No internet and no connection to router after latest update

This morning I have updated (or rather initiated the update) to latest Avast version. it downloaded stuff and asked me to restart computer.

Upon restart:

  1. Avast Firewall is unable to start
  2. No internet
  3. The connection to my wifi router’s admin page is not allowed (Windows claims that there are some problems with wifi configuration)

From what I can see, it is similar to the issue reported in French (“Plus de Wifi”) earlier today. But since it was in French, I’ve decided not to respond in that thread, but report it here.

I am currently at work, but will check and post the logs ones I am back home in the evening.

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.
