No internet connection after installing Avast Free and after uninstalling it

Hello!

I decided to install the free version of Avast a couple of hours ago after reading some good reviews.

I did a custom install while ticking most of the options, and right after the installation was complete, my internet stopped working. I am using a modem and was receiving the Limited Connection prompt. Direct cable was also not working anymore.

I had the Load Avast services only after loading other system services box unchecked, so I checked it. I tried disabling the Web Shield, but this didn’t solve the issue.

I decided to uninstall Avast via the Control Panel, but the internet was still not working. I then used the uninstall tool in safe mode on the Avast website, but with no results.

I then installed a very vanilla Avast version, but the internet is still gone. I am running a 64bit version of Win 8.1.

Please help me!

Have you tryied to reboot your modem?

what antivirus program did you use before avast and did you uninstall that before installing avast?

are you using any thirdpart firewall like comodo or outpost? or the built in one in windows? that could block the signal?

Thank you for the reply.

I was using Eset, but uninstalled it before installing Avast. No other firewall as well. I restarted the modem but nothing changed.

However, when I checked the Device Manager, it showed multiple devices which I didn’t recognize. I deleted them, rebooted and now everything works fine, including Avast

I don’t know what the connection might be, but I hope this info helps anyone who might have a similar problem.
