No internet/network connection after Full Scan

;D HIIIIIIIIIIIII,

When I installed avast my computer ran fine and I was able to get internet connection.
After the full scan though, instead of moving the threats to the chest I accidentally hit delete and I think I deleted some important stuff.

I also tried to call Avast’s technical support number. They have the awesomest tech’s that they hire from India for 2 dollars an hour that you can barely understand. I told him my problems and he wanted to do a “Support link” for a CHARGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

If you delete the files (instead of sending them to Chest), no restore is available.
Maybe you can run
sfc /scannow
and have your Windows CD/DVD at hand.

Was this a boot-time scan, e.g. run before windows starts or a regular on-demand Full System Scan ?

If the latter check this log file and post the contents for the files detected. See C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\report\Full system scan.txt (XP) or C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report\Full system scan.txt (Vista, Win7).

It may be possibly to recover some of the files using a fie recovery software or the sfc /scannow option Tech mentions.

How long have you had avast installed ?

I’ve had it installed for one day. I ran the full scan and it started messing up my network/internet connection. As for the “sfc /scannow option”, I tried that because I’ve seen it in a previous post and I ran it. But after I ran it from the windows run screen I can see it turn on and everything but then it just ran in the background and never did anything I guess. Is there anything else I need to do while running the “sfc /scannow option”? Because all I did was start it up in the windows run section. It started…and that’s it.

Since you haven’t told us what Operating System you’re using, here is the information about
sfc /scan…

For Windows XP:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/system_file_checker.mspx?mfr=true

For Windows Vista and Windows 7:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

I’m using Windows XP brutha-man.

To start with find the files detection information I asked for as that would give an indication if it could effect internet connections or not. Or if any infection you might have (or not) would also impact internet connections if removed after a scan.

When you say it is messing with your internet connection, can you expand, any error messages, etc. ?

What is your firewall ?
Does it allow avastSvc.exe internet access ?

  • If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.

Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

I rerouted the encriptions and I got it going. I also took apart my computer and took rubbed my fecal matter right into the harddrive and I think that helped it out quite a bit. IT runs like a champ now. I’m back on the internet and I can look at Tentacle porn all I want now.

THANK YOU TECH’S!!!1111111
