No Mail Being Scanned

Hi folks. Avast 8 Internet Security version. No emails are being scanned, either incoming or outgoing. Using AOL and Gmail. Any help to offer? Thanks!

how do you access your mail…using a mail program, or do you go to the website and logg in?

mail shield only work if you use a mail client
web mail are scanned as normal web traffic by the webshield

AOL and Gmail protect all mail accounts with spam/virus filter on there mail servers

I have the same problem. I verified all my settings are correct. I use Hotmail. Is this an issue?

you dont say how you access your mail…webmail or a mailclient like outlook express
if you use webmail…meanig you go to hotmail website and logg inn, then avast mail shield does not scan

I access my verizon.net email with Outlook Express. All my settings are correct for SSL email with verizon.net. The emails are coming in and going out, but the incoming emails are NOT being scanned reliably by Avast. Please go to my link above for more detail.
