I look at my status of the vps, and it was 13 days old!!!
So I make a manual update and it work.
But the automatic fonction do not work any more. 6.0.1091
I try 1 minute update, to see what append, and nothing append, no error, no comodo firewall error or message, nothing. (avast counter add minutes)
I try to enable, disable, the automatic function, nothing.
Look like the problem start the 23 april !!! (I think it is the date that I update for the 1091 version) Free edition
Help
I use comodo 5.3.181415.1237 firewal, no AV and defense+ disable
Try these settings:
From the avastUI, Settings, Updates, Update Parameters, ensure that you check the one applicable yo your internet connection. If you aren’t on dial-up then it is the other for broadband, cable, etc.
From the avastUI, Settings, Updates, Proxy Settings, if you don’t use a Proxy to connect to the internet, select the Direct connection (no proxy).
Are you not getting any errors if the auto update failed it should give an error ?
Two other things:
if the avast updates are out of date (even by a few days) there would be a Yellow triangle with a ! exclamation mark over the avast icon, is there ?
after 7 days windows security center would also complain in the system tray with the WSC shield, does that happen ?
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
Vista, win7 - Repair of avast. Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
You may need to reboot after the repair. This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual VPS version.
No error
no yellow triangle
no windows security center message!!!
I try to repair avast, after repair, I have a error message from windows security center tell me that the vps is outdate.
I manually make a update, after udpate, (update done and today date) and pressing ok, avast tell me the vps is outdate!!! still have the outdate message from windows.
???
So I completely uninstall avast, clean registry, purge comodo firewall from avast file…
Now I restart windows xp, and avast make it’s update.
I try a 1 minutes frequency for update, and it did not work, so maybe there is a minimum waiting time of 240 minute for the free version, I do not know, will see tomorrow if there is a update. If not, well, there is a bug in the 1091 version.
Can someone confirm that there is a 240 minimum waiting time before trying to update in the free version?
After a reboot any delay would be zeroed, but first there would be an auto update check very shortly after boot, before the update frequency check starts.
So there may be something else going on at this busy time and or your broadband connection although present may not be fully active. So you could delay this initial check until after the boot has completed and isn’t so busy, see ~~~~ below.
I’m totally surprised that none of the warning signs are present, if as you say it was way out of date.
In avast5/6 you need to edit (using notepad) avast5.ini the [InetWD] section of the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5\avast5.ini (XP file location). Location for Vista, win7, C:\ProgramData\Alwil Software\Avast5\avast5.ini.
- Broadband connections, add this line:
AlwaysConnectedWaitSeconds=120 and
AssumeAlwaysConnected=1 if not present (or edit AssumeAlwaysConnected=0 to AssumeAlwaysConnected=1)

[InetWD]
AssumeAlwaysConnected=1
AlwaysConnectedWaitSeconds=120

When complete save the changes, avast's self-defence module will ask for confirmation, etc. answer Yes.
The figure is seconds and the above equates to two minutes, you could try that and adjust upwards if required, 180, 240, etc.
Avast put a window warning (bad url)on each picture???
and automatic update did not work
Now I am waiting avast that finish sending all the files for examination!!! all have the address t0.gstatic.com/image?q=xxxxxxxx and t0 t1 t2 …
very very slow process.
I have to wait, avast is jam to send this.
258 web site were block by avast, and it is sending all the info to avast…
This is not funny
Avast tell me that my version is 110427-1 2011-04-27 11;44;54, your version is outdated the new one is 110427-2
I click on update vps base, and surprise, it tell me that vps base is already the new one 110427-2, I clickok, and I have the same first message tell me that my version is 110427-1
avast tell me that I have 110427-1, I manually update, and it say that I have 110427-02, I click ok, and then it say I have 110427-1 that I have to update.
This is turning in circle
and the automatic update still not working whit the 2 minute setting
I can try another to uninstall avast and re install, but it is not looking good.
I reboot, and look like the new vps base is ok now, no more update message, message version is 110427-2
But still no automatic update, I modify the ini file, and I put 2 minute in avast, now, it is 9 minutes the update was done…and counting, so 2 minutes update is not working
I have a bad filling for the next vps base update…
By the way, version 110427-2 solve the problem with google image…
