I posted a thread which was deleted seconds after stating that I am not using avast anymore because of the airpush issue.
Thanks admin, you gave me a good reason not to reconsider it again…
Hi,
wonder who deleted it Wasn’t me for sure.
Filip
What differences are there for Airpush, Admob and Leadbolt here?
Hope you do not need this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector&hl=en

you can check the forum logs, right?
I don’t know if it might be related but very recently there has been a whole slew of spammers active.
Their posts would have been deleted and the spammer/s banned. I don’t know if it is possible that your post got caught up in this.
What was the approximate time you posted it and in which forum ?
around 2:10 pm.
I’m having a hard time working out what the time zone difference would be and the forum default time.
I think that would be around the time of a reasonably high spammer activity, if it was posted a short time before you posted this topic. So there is a possibility it could have been deleted accidentally as I mentioned. If it were in this forum the moderators here may have been active also. The ones I was dealing with were mainly in the General forum, none that I recall from this sub-forum.
Mina, maybe something wrong happened while removing spam. For sure it’s not an intended action.
Sorry to hear that you’re leaving AMS.
Maybe you can post again what happened…
The problem is I feel not secured with avast. And as the people of alwil stated they do not intend to add detection of ad networks to their database (I do not know why?). I moved to AVL which is one of the best mobile security app regarding detection.
Yesterday I wrote this and after seconds I found my post deleted !!
That’s the story…
Ad networks are not malware. That’s why they are not in the database. I don’t know of a security product that does detect ads. You usually have to use a separate ad-blocker app.
Another thing is that if AMS blocked ads, it would probably be removed from the Google Play Store because Google doesn’t like that. Avast also has a working relationship with Google and I’m sure that factors in as well.
Many AV’s for Android only scan the app .apk files.
I moved away from AMS myself but for a different reason. It would not integrate with the Dolphin browser where the product I’m using now does. If Avast would add Dolphin support, I’m sure they would gain many more users of AMS. Another improvement would be to make the firewall component not require the device to be rooted. It is possible to do since there are several no-root firewalls available.
AVL, Dr Web, Comodo and many other detect and offer the ability to remove it. They are not removed frm the market …
I am not talking the regular in program ads - I’m OK with these - I’m talking about ads in the notification bar with the ugly yellow star in it …
Those are push ads. I use Trustgo AD Detector which is a good On Demand scanner for ads etc It even highlights those with privacy issues and it’s free. CMS etc have some push ads in their signatures but it’s not as comprehensive.

I’ve never seen a yellow star in my notifications bar.
@ Dch48
may be your cell is not infected but generally it look like this:
My phone has no OS. It’s not a smart phone. I only have Android on my Nexus 7 tablet and I have never seen a star like that.
