Recently, all of our free and paid antiviruses have this message - “К сожалению, это продукт не поддерживается в вашем текущем местоположении” (“Sorry, this product is not supported in your current location”) We can’t access the UI, activate the subscription, check the status. Reinstalling does not solve the problem. Avast no longer allow the use antivirus software in Ukraine?
Not sure why this notification would be in Russian, seems like someone stuffed up.
There is still a Russian sub-forum that is active and presumably they aren’t having this problem.
I will try to draw some attention to this.
Avast was previously available on the territory of Ukraine in two languages - Russian and Ukrainian. The UI message in Ukrainian looks like this: “На жаль, цей продукт не підтримується у вашому регіоні”. When I opened the support section on https://www.avast.ua, I saw the message “На жаль, підтримка не надається українською мовою” (“Sorry, the support is not available in Ukrainian language”), and the link to the forum led here
I’ve alerted Avast.
The same situation in Zaporizhia, UA (Provider - Kyivstar). When I change the provider (Vodafone) - the problem is dissapearing
On March 11 Avast drop support for Russia, and as I understand they make some very weird user location detection, so part of Ukraine now in gray zone, there Avast and AVG does not work. And they don’t wanna fix this, so no more Avast Antivirus for us. Ліс рубають, тріски летять, як завжди нікого не цікавлять наслідки їхніх рішень для інших
Avast is governed by regulations which it has to follow.
Yes, I read about it in the press release, but I didn’t see anywhere that there will be no support for users from part of Ukraine either. I just wanted to know: is this done on purpose or are good programmers hard to find these days?
It has nothing to do with programmers and is required by law.
What regulation says parts of Ukraine also have to be boycotted?
What regulation says parts of Ukraine also have to be boycotted?
The parts considered und Russian control as far as I know.
It looks like Avast has a problem with lawyers.
Is Kyivstar provider related to Russia? Maybe he’s giving out Russian IP addresses? No.
Is the belonging of Zaporozhye to Russia legally recognized by someone? No.
So what legal norms force Avast to block users from Zaporozhye?
Avast also has problems with marketing.
There is no struggle for long-term users.
The subscription renewal of version 18.8 was broken, leaving only a demonstration of mocking advertising.
Previously, there was no such vile attitude towards users.
We have to state that Avast is in a systemic crisis.
Imagine that: you’re fighting off an invader in your country, and your computer won’t work properly because you’re in the same area as the invaders. Thanks for undermining the fight back. Insane!
I’m Dutch. In WW2 Germany invaded us and we were under German rule. If they did again, Avast would probably stop AV support for the resistance because they’re in the same zip code as the occupying forces. smh.
