No MORE INSERTED "CLEAN" NOTES

Just got a new machine; Vista Home Edition Premium 32 bit and IE7. Never had a problem getting “Clean” notes inserted in my incoming or outgoing mail using Thunderbird and YPOPS with both ISP and Yahoo e-mail accounts along with Zone Alarm Firewall (free) which doesn’t seems to have any e-mail scanning options and aVast 4.8 free Home Edition.

Well, I got the problem now, with both HTML and Text mail.

Avast does its scanning although I don’t see a seperate mail scanning icon just the regular avast icon rotating; scanned e-mails are being picked up (increasing) in the Internet Mail settings box and at the end of each header of my test incoming e-mails I can see both outgoing and incoming “clean” messages from aVast; I just don’t get the note inserted in the messages anymore, all neccesary boxes are checked under settings.

You may have forgotten the little trick you needed on your old machine to make avast scan the Yahoo mail delivered by YPops.

avast has never, by default, scanned mail delivered by Webmail to POP converters and it was the subject of one of my first ever posts in the forum 4 years ago.

However, it is a lot easier than it was back then. If you are using the default settings of YPops all you need is:

In the Internet Mail provider click “Customize” > “Redirect” tab > uncheck “Ignore local communication” box > OK

Here’s the chat we had about it back in 2006.

How could I forget those posts back then! In fact, I saved them on my old hard drive. Will make that adjustment in INternet Mail settings and get back to you.
Still, my problem is not only with Yahoo mail through YPOPS in Thunderbird but also with my other two ISP mail accounts in Thunderbird. Also made the change I mentioned in my very last reply back then; we’ll see what happens. Thanks for your time!

Don’t forget that you will not see the inserted note in the ‘Sent Items’ folder of your mail program, because avast adds the note after the mail leaves the mail program.

They are all showing now; in Thunderbird you must view text as text and html as html in order to see the applicable notes. I can see both incoming and outgoing messages as I’m testing this by mailing to myself. But again, thanks, your reminder to turn off "ignore local communication did the trick!
