I was using an app on myspace when webshield sounds off (h~ttp.copabikersclub.net/sun.js/{gzip}) so I abort connection. In the On-Access Control panel under Wed shield it still list count as 1 infected is that normal?
Now about the log files, for all categories the last logs r from 4/13/2009, I had log file size limit set to 4096 coudl that be it? From when I installed Avst on 2/28/09 it has a pretty steady stream of logs until 4/13/09 then nothing. Any suggestions appreciated.
The count will remain as it is cumulative, when you reboot that starts from zero again, see image.
I have been doing lots of testing today checking out reported infected sites, so my Infected count: currently stands at 6, tomorrow is another day ;D
The log file size has nothing to do with the counts, my log file size I have set at 128KB and it makes no difference.
SO, any ideas y its not logging any new stuff?
What do you mean by it isn’t logging new stuff (or something different) ?
Are you getting more alerts from the web shield, the one with abort connection as the only option (and the number doesn’t change) ?
No, not at all, in Avast Logviewer: for example under Notice tab it list all the dates it did an automatic update, and the last date is 4/13. Same with in Warnings/Error tabs, i have a bunch of scanning errors/warnings listed all up until 4/13 then nothing.
Weird…
The new entries should replace the old ones until 4096 size limit, not the contrary.
In which position is your log slider?
Is there any other strange behavior with avast?
In Program Settings/Logging/Log Level its set to Emergency. No other probelms with Avast at all its great.
No wonder you aren’t getting anything recorded in the logs, Emergency is the Highest level problem, so avast reports from the slider UP, so it looks like you have been tweaking the settings.
The default setting is Notice, so every thing from Notice up to Emergency would be logged.
In a little over 5 years using avast I have never seen an entry in the Emergency or Alert sections and I don’t believe it has had any in the Critical section either. The majority will be in the Notice or Warning sections.
