Avast free seems to update signatures normal. But for quite a while I have seen no notification popup. Neither for signatue updates nor for ads or infos. Happens on all of my 3 machines Win7/8.1/10. What is wrong or has changed?
It has been changed quit a while ago.
Check the changes as mentioned in the release threads on this webboard.
Hm, so “silent updates” means no popups on definition updates. Maybe the corresponding duration option should be greyed out when silent update is active?
But all of the information/advertising popups are gone, too. Are they canceled by Avast or blocked by silent updates?
I hope that virus alert popups will show sometime. Or better not… 
In the paid version you can turn of the popups. In the free version you can’t. I’m still getting some in the free version. 
Don’t complain Bob, the ads are free also ;D
I don’t mind pop ups if they make sense. 
the first few days of the notification free definitions updates saw my parents, who are pc tech illiterate, come to me and say ‘uhh…son…I dont think this new fangeled program of yours is workin straight…’
took a day of research to confirm, yes it is working right, no, the latest versions are NOT supposed to notify you of definitions updates.
they’re still nervous about that. but at least they know its working right.
