No Offline Registration option

I am running version 11.2.2262 of the free Avast antivirus software.

My previous 12 month free license just expired and I received a new license after completing the form at https://www.avast.com/en-in/registration-free-antivirus.php

The instructions that come with this license do not tally with the UI on my version of Avast and I am unable to install the new license. The instructions are as follows:

To insert your license key, please follow the instructions below:

 1. Highlight the license key above, then right-click it and select “Copy”.
 2. Open your Avast Free Antivirus controls and select the “Settings” tab.
 3. Next, click the “Registration” tab.
 4. Click the arrow next to “Offline registration” to expand this option.
 5. Click the “Insert the license key” button.
 6. Right-click in the empty Registration box and select “Paste”.
 7. Click “OK” – your license key is now inserted and your Avast antivirus software can now be used free of charge for a further 12 months.

Under Settings there is no ‘Registration’ tab. There is, however, a ‘Subscription’ tab where my previous 12 month license information was shown

There is no ‘Offline Registration’ option available to put in my new free 12 month license. The license I have been sent does not work in the ‘insert activation code’ link and I do not have a license file to attach using the ‘insert license file’ link.

How do I use this license?

A activation code and license file are two different things.
If you have a license file, simply double click on it.

Yes, I know that. I didn’t say I had either, I mentioned them for completeness. My post stated I received an email with a license code that the instructions stated I should add via an ‘Offline Registration’ option under settings. That option is not available in my UI. It isn’t there.

Thank you. I’ve looked through those ands they show me how to add the license key via the ‘Offline registration’ option. My problem is that there is no offline registration option in which to do that.

Thank you, but my interface has a ‘Subscription’ tab there, not a ‘Registration’ tab. And there is no ‘Offline registration’ option once selected, just the expiry notice.

I’m going to uninstall the product completely and install a fresh version from the Avast website.

Please attach a screenshot of your Registration Tab (or your Subscription) as the others have. Whilst it has a heading of ‘Your Subscription’ title, it still related to the free version also.

That screen doesn’t change until you get closer to your renewal date (30 days I believe), until that happens there is no input field in the interface to enter a new free registration code.

Maybe during an update of the program you’ve choosed to try the avast internet security and in that case it happens what you’ve described.
I think in that case there’s a button in the subscription tab where you can choose to revert to the avast free version.

Uninstalling Avast via Program and Features, should give you the option to convert to the free version.
