No protection, not able to do scan

I am using windows 8.1 pro. I installed Avast Free and it says that background service is not running. When I click fix it no reaction. When I try to scan it says: there are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper. Can please somebody help me to work it out?

Today I discovered that Windows Defender is installed. So only Windows defender and Avast. Windows defender is not running, too. I was using Avira. It stopped working 2 days ago, too.

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s)…!!

Then:

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Note: You’ve to disable Windows Defender on W8.x…!!

I am trying to disable Windows defender but when I click on settings nothing happens.

Follow the steps above, WD should disable itself when Avast is installed.

I followed the steps, still the same problem. It says that I am not protected and background services are not working.

No endpoints suggests that another AV is installed, possibly Norton

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

[*]Right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Select additions at the bottom
[*]Press Scan button.

Norton has never been installed. Only AV which was installed is Avira. Should I follow this steps anyways?

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

I supposed that this AVG files are a part of TuneUp Utillities. I have it installed. Should I first unistall TuneUp? Today I installed Superantyspyware, does I have to uninstall it?

Those two folders are not associated with AVG although it is bundled with it so there is no need to uninstall

Try one more re-install please

Download Avast Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

[]Run the uninstall tool and accept the reboot to safe mode
[]Once complete reboot your system
[*]Reinstall Avast

I did exactly what you wrote but still the same. I can’t belive it.

EDIT:
But during the installation it said that dropbox can not be installed because of some error. It offer a log so I saved it. Here it is.

Download and run farbar service scanner

Press “Scan”.
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.

Please copy and paste the log to your reply.
