I have been trying to register the free home version for about 2 weeks now. I have tried about 4 different email addresses and have not got any emails from avast.com. I have checked all my spam boxes and there is plenty of space available in all my email inboxes. What’s interesting is that I filled out the ‘Lost Registration Key’ form and I got an email instantaneously but it said that there is no record of this email ever having been registered. So I am really confused as to what’s going on and I would really appreciate some help.
Firstly you have a full 60 days unrestricted use using the demo key that comes with the program, so you have time to resolve this.
Try this different SSL Registration Page: https://secure.avast.com/scripts/register.php?lang=ENG and use the email that you entered when checking the lost key as that is at least known to get through. Although that email may be coming from a different email address at Alwil/avast, the registration key is sent from register @ avast.com without the spaces.
What address did the response for the lost registration come from ?
If that came from something @ asw.com then it would appear that something is blocking avast.com but, it is strange as you say if no record is found of your attempt to register.
The email from the ‘Lost Registration Key’ form also came from register@avast.com so that means it’s not getting blocked. I just tried the SSL version of the form and I didn’t get any emails after that either so I am not sure what’s going on. BTW, does this form require Internet Explorer ? May be that’s the problem because I don’t use IE.
Neither do I and it should work regardless of browser I believe.
I’m at a loss as to what to suggest:
Are you getting any error messages after submitting the registration ?
Are all the fields completed, etc. ?
You could check the lost key form again and see if there is any record of registration of that email address.
What is the domain name of your email e.g. @domain-name.com ?
Now that’s the strange thing. It does not give my any error messages and no ‘you have successfully registered’ messages either. Does that mean that I am doing something wrong ?

Strange, I have just re-registered (with firefox and used the SSL link I gave previously) and left a few fileds and the critical email address blank to see if it threw up an error.
Well it doesn’t pop-up a warning but the page re-displays and alerts you to missing fileds and those fields are coloured RED. Once I had completed all fields with exception of tel number, after checking, I got a new page (see image) and by the time I created the image and checked my email there it was an email from register @ avast.com.
So if you aren’t being redirected to this page then your re-gistration is missing something and this should be highlighted in RED.
OK, it worked this time. I guess was leaving the name field empty. I know the fault basically lies with me for not noticing the fields in red but I think a little message at the top of the page saying that there are some fields that need to be filled/corrected would be more than welcome.

I think there was a message at the top of the page which indicates you need to enter certain fields but, it doesn’t stand out very much and could be in Bold text and probably in RED too.
