Years ago, I reported false positives on the forum, and the admins were great about investigations and correcting the matter quickly. I know that a form is used now, but I have gotten no response. Has anyone else experienced this? What other steps can be taken?
The site is genf20.cXm. The report just says it was “infected with URL: Blacklist.”
Avast no longer email a response.
Only one hit here - https://www.virustotal.com/gui/url/f042bc788d9e069b5b11075e14035384a11fc9d785f130266685decdd39b9d9a?nocache=1
Low Security Risk - with some hardening improvements suggested here - https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/genf20.com
New location to report both a False Positive and or a False Negative for File or URL - https://www.avast.com/submit-a-sample#pc
Still detected.
Thank you for your reply.
I checked the two URLs you gave me:
- sitecheck.securi.net says the site is not blacklisted.
- virustotal.com said the site was flagged as malicious on CRDF. CRDF answered me that the flag was a false positive and removed it from their list.
I suppose I will just report all this again on the Avast form. But if Avast does not respond and does not act, do I have any other recourse?
Did you use the Online form URL that I gave ?
Yes, I have used it three times and received no answer. I got the CRDF block (which you pointed out to me) removed, plus a VIPRE block removed which I found afterwards. I see no other blocks anywhere. Just waiting for Avast to respond to the form.
As I mentioned:
Avast no longer email a response.
This is something that I disagree with, if someone takes the time to report it I feel they need a response.
That said for many the response if an FP would be it no longer being detected.
If it continues to be detected the likelihood (my assumption) is that it is still considered malicious. Not great to assume though.
