I just downloaded Avast4home , everything is ok,but ,as i chose a custom install without Web filters and proxy, i am nonetheless surprised not to find a specific window for either EMail scanning or the Resident shield settings, apart the small one which i set on Maximum.
Is this all right or i didnt d/l a piece?
Do you see the blue “a” ball icon in your system tray? Just click on it and you will see the Resident Providers and their settings
For more info see avast! help files
I’m not sure exactly what the result of your customisation might be, so it may be possible this is the result.
A screen shot of what you found or a more detailed explanation would help. If you just see something like the image below click the Details… button.
Is this all right or i didnt d/l a piece?Where did you download the file from and what was it called? What does the about avast say you have (right click the avast icon)?
.M:A:S:. and DavidR, thanks really a lot for your prompt and detailed replies, after watching them for a while the very few little grey cells still remaining received a sudden Zen-like Revelation:
out of habit with my programs i had only right clicked the blue A-icon in the system tray…
After the overdue left doubleclick i was able to finally set everything ok!!!
I was drowning myself in a glass of water because i wanted to go too quick.
Just one more question: in the OnAccessScanner/Internet Mail/Resident task settings/POP section, can i safely unmark POP scanning inbound mail,
given the fact i use IMAP folders -and in that section the IMAP protocol Inbound mail is already marked for
“Scan inbound mail” ?
You’re welcome anytime ;D
And Welcome to the forum ;D
No problem, welcome to the forums.
I would leave the pop3 scanning enabled, it won’t hurt and it won’t use any resources if it isn’t scanning pop3 content. However, it is there should it be unexpectedly required.
I’ll do that, seems rather logical.
Thanks again to both, and i am very happy to be here and very satisfied by Avast.
