And you did reboot after repair…

Yes, of course, it is Windows not Linux

Where are the sound files “supposed” to be?

For many versions, the sound simply isn’t working no matter what you try.
I’ve seen it on Windows XP and Windows 10.
Sounds enabled in the settings, downloaded the sounds and placed them in the correct folder etc and it still doesn’t work.
To me it looks like one of the many things avast screwed up.

Oh shoot. Maybe youll find them here. ;D

Look here: C:>ProgramData>AvastSoftware>Avast>Sounds

ProgramData folder is Hidden, so you’ll need to unhide it to find the goodies.

Very few sounds now run in the current version. You should hear “Scan completed” at the end of every manual scan if the file is large enough to run for a minute or more.

I supposedly am showing hidden files and folders, but no folder called “sound” and no .mp3 files or whatever. It also doesn’t appear I can select my own + the icon doesn’t animate during scan. I am thankful the logs files eeem to work. This version does not appear ready for prime time :frowning:

See attached.

As you can see I’ve got only four sound files that run now. Earlier versions of avast used to be quite noisier, to the point where it used to announce ‘Your avast virus database has been updated’ several times a day.
