I have been unable to update now for a couple of days. I keep getting:
“Can’t select any server for downloading (from 0).”
After searching the forums, I downloaded “servers.def” and replaced the one in my setup directory. I still get the same error. I even tried shutting all Avast processes and replacing the file, then rebooting. The problem continues. I do not have any firewall running and all other connections work fine. What else can I try?

First try performing a repair of Avast from “Add/Remove” in the Control Panel. Just select Avast from the list and after you click to uninstall you should get a menu with an option to repair it.

Did you place the downloaded servers.def in the correct folder, C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\servers.def ?
What was the size of the servers.def you downloaded 9KB in windows explorer (detailed size 8.53KB, 8744 bytes) it contains listing for 61 servers ?
Or delete the servers.def file and try a manual update, it should download another copy.
Yes, I put it in the correct folder, overwriting the existing file.
No matter now, I did a full uninstall/reboot/reinstall. All works well now. Thanks.
