No video after installing Avast

I’ve just installed the paid for version of Avast and I am now unable to use Skype or watch any video at all. Any ideas on what simple steps I should take to correct this problem?

Welcome to the forum.
What firewall are you using and is avast! allowed access to the internet in your firewall settings ???

I am using the Home (low risk) option, but I did have the work (high risk) option selected until I noticed the video problem. I switched to low risk with no change in the video problem.

I do not know of a firewall called “home.” Can you check again and let us know what firewall you use? Is it part of Avast Internet Security?

What version of Avast are you using?

I am using the Avast 7 full version of Internet Security. I have the Home (low risk) option selected under the “Firewall” options.

Have you tried re-installing flash player ? http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie/ Choose your version required ( IE, Non IE, 32-64 bit ) in the list at the bottom.

I’ll try re installing flash, but keep in mind; video does work on my computer, just not when it’s associated with the web. Thanks for the tip though.
