No Virus Scans Available with 2015.10.2.2214 Update - Free version

On Win7 64bit. After updating to version 2015.10.2.2214 there are no virus scans available (except a boot time scan). After the update and restart of Win7, I did not get the “Complete Your Avast Program Update” screen. After noticing that the only scan available was a boot-time scan I also noticed that the main Avast screen still claimed that it wanted to restart the system so I did a second restart. Still did not get the “Complete Your Avast Program Update” screen and only the boot-time scan was listed. I also noticed that the scan history is cleared. There may be other issues but these are enough to worry about now.

Suggestions?

… and there are two copies of AvastUI.exe running. I don’t think that is normal.

Yes that is normal, the change was made in the latest version.

Avast wants me to restart the system again. I’ve restarted twice already. I think I’ll wait to see if anyone has info to share on the issue with no scans being available.

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

I have the same problem. After updating to Avast Internet Security 2015.10.2.2214, I can’t get another scan option than «scan au démarrage». If I reinstall avast, will I have to reinsert the key? If so, I used it 3 times already (on 3 computers). Is it going to work again?

yes as long as you dont use it on more the amount of computers it is valid for .....

 I followed Asyn’s instructions for doing the uninstall and new install. Seems to have fixed the problem!
Thanks!
