I have the Avast 4.7 Home Addition.
It has stopped doing the update notification where a note comes up and verbally says Avastini has been updated.
I liked that notification. Can you guide me to setting the program so it continues?

Did you change your avast settings ?
What is the VPS file version (virus database) number, e.g. 0630-2 (see about avast!) ?
Is your avast being updated (Program Settings, Update (Basic) set to automatic) try a manual update to ensure you are up to date.
4.7-871 ?? Is this the number you are seeking? Ah …I found another version and it is 0638-1
I did change settings, as went from a dial-up service to WildBlue Satellite Service…this is when I lost the verbal/visual updated feature.
I have run a manual update and says I am up to date.
I tested the update connection settings and tells me it is proper and working.
My update details are set just as you showed.
My update (basic) is set on Automatic…where yours shows ask for… Should I change that?
Also shows last iAVS update was at 9:08 today…
I wonder, should I delete the program and reinstall?

Mine is set to ask because I’m on a dial-up connection, automatic is the default and preferred option, the more important options are the ones in the Detailed view, The ‘Show sliding box after automatic update’ being the most important.
Although you say you checked and the Update (Connections) you don’t say what it was set to see image and the arrow.
