How? Did you disable the self-defense module and save the file?

Self-defense module???
I simply went into the directory where the file is, it loaded in WordPad and I added the lines that way. When I saved the file, a screen appeared that the file was being changed and to select either yes or no. I selected yes.
I have since placed the three lines immediately below [VRDB] in that file, saved (in the same manner as above) and rebooted. Still no (i) icon…
On two occasions prior to this, when Avast was uninstalled/reinstalled a total of three times each, after the third install, the icon appeared. Someone else in the forum indicated the same had occurred, third install.

After booting, are the lines there?

Against facts there are no arguments… but it’s weird… there is no sense on having to reinstall three times. But, indeed, VRDB is not a necessary thing anymore… it will be probably dropped in avast 5 version.
In any event, I reinstalled it and both the (i) and (a) icons are now present. It updated, appears to be working, so I’m going to leave it alone. ;D
Although I do have an idea why it shows the long update times, which I will place in the other thread.
Thanks again for the help.
