No Web Access (avast! 4.7 & XP x64)

Avast! auto-updated itself to 4.7 today and now I no longer have access to the web (via explorer or firefox). However, Internet access through other types of applications remains. The only way I can get web access is by turning off “On-Access Protection.” Turning off individual modules doesn’t work. I just reinstalled avast! 4.7, but the problem persists. I’m guessing this problem is unique to the XP x64 drivers since I don’t see this problem posted by anyone else.

Anyone have an idea what the problem might be? Thanks in advance!

Have you allowed the updated ashweb module access to the net through your firewall?

It’s not the firewall – even if I turn it off I don’t have web access if avast! is running.

I think I fixed it… I turned on “Web Server (HTTP)” in the Windows Firewall advanced settings. Everything is now working. Is this what everyone must go through when they install avast! 4.7?
