Norton is killing me

MY PC runs fine but I keep getting the dreaded message “NAV has detected a virus”

c:\programfiles\nortonantivirus\quarantine\portal\23aa2f16.exe as well as 72420088.exe and both are Trojan Horses

I’m running both Avast and Norton and neither can get in the quarantine folder to clean these nasties up

AVG calls identifies it as \oe1e2f6c.exe and trjan horse downloader vb.4.af

Of course NAV can’t repair or anything else so I keeo getting these pop up screens

Can I turn off Norton and just rin an AVG scan? Thanks

Running two resident on-access AVs is not recommended, rather than provide twice the protection they are more likely to clash (one will stop the other deleting/moving an infected file, etc.), fighting for control.

The whole point of a quarantine area!

This can lock-up your system and potentially leave you more vulnerable rather than more protected. Introducing a third anti-virus like AVG into the mix can only increase the potential for conflict as you are finding with just two.

Norton is a notorious hog to get rid of even after add remove uninstall bits remain which can still cause conflict. A link worth looking at, which is a program removal tool that can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT

Turning off NAV won’t help there will still be drivers which could get in the way.

Uninstall NAV, run the tool above, reboot, uninstall avast, reboot and reinstall avast!
