Norton PCCheckup/x.exe worm

Good evening.

I’ve got a worm in x.exe, of that I am certain. I’m uncertain but suspicious that it might be related to Norton PC Checkup and it’s sympccheckup registry key that is completely undeletable. Undelete it in safe mode and it restores itself. I suspect there is a .ini or .bat file somewhere that is taunting me, but it eludes me. I’ve used Kaspersky, Avira, Spybot, AdAware, OtsScan, Comodo, and none of them say there is any problem, although they do detect the worm in x.exe. They just, you know, can’t delete it. Or delete it and it comes back. Enclosed is an OTScan file, if you can come up with even the vaguest idea of what to do, I’ll be eternally grateful. This is becoming hair-pullingly annoying.

Thank you very much,

Choujin

P.S.

What gave me hope was that I saw Essexboy and Nicodameus working on a similar problem, so hopefully you guys can help me out too. And if not, sorry for buttin’ in.

It appears OTScanIt found some nasty links.

I suggest you download HiJackThis and post log. Also download and run MBAM.

Plus your Java is down 6 levels. Uninstall the old version of Java and install the latest here (Uncheck MSN Toolbar at installation).

You also need to make sure your P2P shield sensitivity is on High and a third party firewall is recommended.
