Well that certainly provides for a larger footprint!
UK watchdog takes Norton to court over auto-renewing contracts

That should be a wake up call to all Internet Security Providers/Services on how Cancellation and Auto-Renewal 0ptions are handled for their consumers.
I don’t know why they wouldn’t comply with the request, but shouldn’t all companies provide the means to cancel.
During the case, the CMA is investigating a number of aspects including whether Norton provides customers with “adequate ways” to cancel the automatic renewal or if it uses unfair contract terms to increase prices paid by customers when contracts automatically renew.
Since many give a good discount (the hook) renewal is often 100%, a long time ago paid users used to get a loyalty discount for renewal but that seems to have fallen by the wayside. Personally I would never take out an auto payment renewal contract for this very reason as you are almost certainly going to get a renewal bonus offer close to the time ![]()

Yes that has been my experience and often pays off significantly
I feel Asyn’s reply #4 should have been a separate thread. The importance of this on the wider AV industry, is likely to be lost under the “NortonLifeLock acquires Avira” subject line.

Good point, I adjusted the topic title.

Hopefully, it isn’t something Avast is considering. ![]()

From what I have read (from Asyn’s link in Reply #15) this greed over need.
On the other hand, Norton Crypto charges a monstrous 15% mining fee when paying Ethereum rewards. And
Finally, Ethereum is slated to move from a Proof-of-Work to a Proof-of-Stake mining process, which rewards users with blocks depending on how many coins they stake on the blockchain.Once Ethereum transfers to a Proof-of-Stake mining process, Norton Crypto will no longer be useful, making it strange to add the feature so late in the game.
Seems Norton 360 could be jumping on this passing bandwagon a bit late.
