There is an insidious program that is installed automatically. The name is ‘conduit’. If you google it it will be seen that hundreds of computer users want it eliminated from their computer, but it keeps on returning.Even using -about: config-. I want it treated as a virus, and placed in the Web Shield, so that it is automatically removed even without a scan
It has been cleansed many times by our qualified removal experts in our virus and worms section.
In their able hands guided conduit cleansing should not be a problem,

I understand but I do not want it only removed but I want it blocked. So there will will be no need to continually remove it.
Yes, just had a little battle with the same; the program was call “Search Protect” in the Registry.
I located the program folder and deleted it in Safe Mode. Then searched/cleaned Registry.
Very tenacious malware (Well I call it malware)
In any case, wait until one of our qualified “Malware Removal Expert” can guide you through a complete cleaning process. 8)
Definitely the best course of action!
Edit
removal is well and good but the posters question was how to block it
It seems not so easy to block as to remove. This makes a good job of removal: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/
This junkware is not blacklisted and therefore not detected and/or blocked. How these guys are being tolerated, they must be clever…
They pretend to address the issue here http://www.conduit.com/Community/Forum/Questions.aspx?fpage=10&threadid=8423
But it is clear that the attempt is disingenuous.http://forums.cnet.com/7723-6122_102-504164.html link info from Douglas McArther
Here is a way to block it:
https://github.com/mozilla/amo-validator/blob/master/validator/testcases/conduit.py
if there are traces of search.conduit.com there?
If search.conduit.com pages are opening up each time you start up Chrome, check in Wrench > Settings > On Startup > next to the radio button for Open a specific page or set of pages, click on Set pages > remove any unwanted URLs by hovering over the URL until you see an “X” appear to the right side of the URL.
If all searches that you perform in the omnibox is returning with results from search.conduit.com instead of your preferred search engine, check in Wrench > Settings > Search > Manage search engines > check the list of Default search engines, Other search engines, and Search engines added by extensions, and remove suspicious entries that you are not familiar with. Depending on your extensions, you may not see the last section for Search engines added by extensions.
If search.conduit.com is opening up when you click on the Home button, check in Wrench > Settings > Appearance > select the Show Home button checkbox > check if the URL that appears below it references search.conduit.com. Uninstalling Chrome and then reinstalling it without the Conduit folder may solve the problem of the broken “Manage Search Engines”.

Blocking can be done via Mother of All AD-Blocking: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32276021#post32276021

Always custom install all programmes and refuse any and all toolbars … Fixt
thanks polonus
essexboy as you well know some do stealth installs with no option to ask out
even when I’m carefully I find running programs I did not specifically install, some cleverly hide their binaries in odd places
Unfortunately there is not a great deal that can be done about that apart from running a check after all installs
exactly
I’ve been using system explorer
anything better?
AdwCleaner removes the browser crap. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
Just to add.
Have to agree. I even made sure I checked “no thanks” on an install and ended up with the culprit (Search Protect by Conduit)anyway. :-
My issue, was it started running CPU higher then usual. All the time at 30%
Tracked it down and got rid of it.
But it shouldn’t have been installed in the first place.
