Not able to boot, problem with aswrvrt.sys

I have Lenovo laptop with i-5 processor, 8 gb ram and 1 tb HDD with win7 os. On last Monday evening (18-Nov-2013) when i tried to start my laptop, it gave me blue screen error just after the windows boot logo (before appearing of login screen), and this error lasts just for a fraction of second. And right after that it restarted and showed options of Safe Mode, normal mode etc. Then I ran the system in safe mode but it stops while loading aswrvrt.sys and again gives blue screen error. I tried repairing my os with the win7 CD and repair disc but the process stops after the windows files are loaded. Its not even able to detect the OS, it just hangs there. While trying to format and install a fresh os the same thing happened again, it gets stuck at “setup is loading…”. I have tried farbar tool also but as I am not able to run the repair option I tried running in freeDos but it says that the program can’t run on Dos. Please help me out with this…

Hi, can you follow this topic and part If you cannot boot your computer.

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

I need FRST.txt report…

I followed the instructions, burned OTLPE on a CD and tried to boot with it. After loading all the files, it again showed blue screen error just after Win XP started loading. Is it possible to to run Vista or Win7 like this??

Do you have USB flash at hand?

yes I have…

Please someone help me out…

TwinHeadedEagle is on your case … but he is in and out of the forum, so a little patient is required.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to a flash drive.

[*]Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.
[*]Restart your computer and tap F8 to bring up the Advanced Menu, then click Repair your computer
[*]Follow the prompt to enter keyboard input method, and then the prompt to enter a password. If the machine does not have a password, simply click Enter.

In the next menu, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Command Prompt and press Enter.

[*] In the command window type in notepad and press Enter.
[*] When notepad opens, click File and select Open.
[*]Select “Computer” and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
[*]In the command window type e:\frst64.exe and press Enter.

Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.

[*]The tool will start to run. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Press Scan button.

It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please attach it to your reply.

“Repair my computer” just gives me a blank black screen, it doesn’t proceed any further. I ran SeaTools for DOS (seagate) and it says “No hard drives found”.

What is happening when you try to boot Windows normally? Can you access BIOS to see does it detects hard drive?

while booting normally it displays the windows 7 logo… but just before the login screen it gives blue screen error. and in bios setting it is displaying the hard disk

Then, you’re doing something wrong. Please try several times my instructions above, it will probably work…

finally tried with Linux live CD, it successfully boots in my system. I was able to take backup of my C drive and then used GParted to format it, installed fresh Win7 again.
