Not able to modify profile

Hello,

I’ve just been trying to add my country and signature to my profile. I select Profile, and it opens to the Summary page where that info would go, but there is no way to add anything.

Modify Profile is listed, but no way to click on it. The only place I can find to make changes is Account Related Settings which doesn’t help.

What am I missing? Thanks!

Try again. I think you need 20 posts to be able to update your profile.

Now that you have 20 posts, you can do it

Ah, thanks!

zalynia, aren’t you using the latest 6.0.1000 version of avast?

Nope, I thought it was still in beta, and was going to wait until full release…

It’s stable/official now, not beta.

Oh, ok, thanks for the heads up! I’ll upgrade.

Now you can update your signature that you are running Avast Internet Security v. 6.0.1000

Okay, I get you. We don’t have much of a personality (i.e. “profile”) until we have posted 20 times. That way, the older folk can look down on us newbies and think, “They’re all the same.” (I know, you guys need more smilies. All the better to express ourselves 8))

It is more an antispam thing, it attempts to prevent spammers registering for the forum, and editing their profiles to be full of links…if they don’t post, then it is hard to keep track of.

For me though the main reason is the blocking of Personal Messages. Since someone needs 20 posts before they can send a PM, spammers cannot register, and start spamming everyone through PM’s…

The only problem is that when the do register, they can still post…until they are caught that is…though generally the mods are fairly quick on this.

Okay, this makes sense. I was just annoyed since my timezone is wrong here, and apparent I can’t change it. ::slight_smile:

Keep spamming and you will soon have 20 posts

I hope you enjoy them. I enjoy writing them. ::slight_smile:

Your spamming topic has been closed 8)

Ooh, it isn’t enough to close a topic for no reason except that some people got irrationally upset, but now you have to go and tell me about it in this topic in case I missed the other.

LOL

The logic and actions used here by some members are so messed up, I keep thinking I’m in a dream. ::slight_smile:

To demonstrate my superiority (I can see people foaming at the mouth), I shall now manifest such intellectuality that you will cringe! (Boy is this funny. Should be to others besides me ::))

  • That was not my topic.
  • Definition of “spamming” according to the New Oxford American Dictionary: “Irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent on the Internet to a large number of recipients.” My posts were not irrelevant to the topic. They were not inappropriate either, unless humor is banned in this forum (in that case, you don’t have much hope anyway and reasoning won’t change anything).
  • People in that topic repeatedly ignored our affirmations that we didn’t get anything from others using our reference links. I bet if I had cultivated the view that I was banned from Comodo, people would be more receptive to what I said. ::slight_smile:
  • I presented some responses and questions. Apparently acknowledging them wasn’t a priority…instead, everyone just clamored for the topic to be closed. When people do not have reasonable responses left, mob mode kicks and they ignore everything else.
  • ? ? ?
  • Profit
  • (A little randomness is good to keep people from killing themselves because of boredom) :stuck_out_tongue:

So this nice long post demonstrates that I don’t focus on getting 20 posts…if I had, I could have given out a tidbit here and there. ::slight_smile:
