I recently stopped the provider because I was getting a virus warning on a producr which should have been (and was) OK.
Now when I rightclick the resume provoder is greyed out.
Assistance will be appreciated.
OK, I goofed. It is not possible to resume a service that is working. Dumb & Dumber. It’s beeen a long day!

Otherwise its better to use Pause provider option.
Right click on “a” ball → Pause provider and select Standard Shield.
After you’re done whatever you wanted to do just go again on the blue ball,select Resume menu and then Standard Shield.
If you need to fully disable avast! for a current Windos session only,use my avast! External Control.
RejZoR, I think it’s better advice that it’s now working only with 4.1 and not avast 4.5 version… At least, here it’s not working. :-\
In fact its working. Problem lies in Internet Mail provider which is now running as service (in v4.5). Its not Alwils fault. So if you’re not running Internet mail provider,everything should work fine.
But using Pause/Resue is a better and easier choice.
Sorry but I’m using the Internet Mail provider… 
Well if you kill ashMaiSv.exe manually it will disable it. Enabling works fine though…
