Yes it can, it depends on your scan settings

By default, it attempts top repair if not possible, is quarantines. If that’s not possible, it deletes.
You can change that action.

Thx Pondus and Bob,
Is this disabling done in Preferences, and if so, where?
Maybe File Shield Settings.
I was hoping the default was to “do nothing” and Avast would warn me of the threat so I could quarantine it if I wish.
On a side matter, will the verifications eventually stop?

I see now, thx, I’ve been very busy and didn’t notice this as a complete sentence
Sure enough, something from my Keylogger app called Refog which I use quite a bit was moved to the virus chest. I restored it and it was moved there again.
I went to Preferences>File Shield and put it into Excluded Path.
The reason I’m not using Malwarebytes (scanning app for viruses) is they also automatically quarantine but does NOT allow you to restore.
I wish the default was not quarantine but I’m hoping this works out now.
Thank you again

Thx again!
I didn’t realize. Refog stopped working after running the newest version of Malwarebytes and I called them by phone after the quarantine.
They kept insisting for 15-20 minutes they needed to access my computer while I explained to them that Malwarebytes had quarantined something in Refog I required. How could I restore and change the default to “do nothing” instead of “quarantine”.
I spoke to a manager and he never mentioned a restore.
I communicated by email and told them of the issue and they never mentioned restore.
I uninstalled Malwarebytes and reinstalled Refog and it’s working perfectly now
I should have found and read the manual, thank you.
Hi Pondus (or anyone else),
Looking thru the manual here:
https://www.malwarebytes.com/support/guides/mb/
… I’m seeing nothing for “restore” supposed threat(s) and with a search of the word “restore” in the manual, nothing comes up.
Not to give anyone homework, but if you could tell me what BOLD HEADING the “restore” feature is under, I will check it out.
Thank you all
I will give you a clue … where is it you restore files from?
You find it under QUARANTINE
A big picture where you can see restore buttons and text above and under picture
My apologies, it even shows up in a search of the word “restore”.
Many thx!
Hello gentlemen,
Just for the record, the Windows manual is different from the Mac, as are the features.
Malwarebytes for Mac User Guide Version 3.1.1.
https://www.malwarebytes.com/support/guides/malwarebytes-for-mac/
There is no restore feature for Mac yet, according to the fellows on the Malwarebytes Forum.
Don’t recall you ever mentioning that this was Mac related.
