Not receiving emails with links in message...Avast?

I’m trying to resolve a strange problem with Thunderbird 1.0.7, and I don’t know if it’s Thunderbird or Avast doing it…

My mom’s WinXP SP2 computer has Thunderbird 1.0.7 and Avast on it. When I send her an email with just plain text, it appears just fine in her inbox. If I send her an email with a link in it, she never receives the email. Ever. Her provider is sbcglobal.net.

I’ve tried sending her email with both my Yahoo email account and my comcast email account, from different machines, and the same thing occurs. Regular text email, fine. Any email with a link in it, never shows up.

Could this be a setting in Avast? Or does this sound more like a Thunderbird specific problem?

Thanks in advance for any advice…

Is she able to receive other HTML email?
Are there any blocking settings in Tbird to stop HTML mail?

I suggest you check her ISP and see if the use any form of Spam/content filter.

avast doesn’t block emails, it only scans them for infection or suspicious content (and the link isn’t), if there is a problem avast will wake the dead to let you know it. avast doesn’t block content, so if it gets through in plain text it should get through in HTML format.

I don’t understand your problem.

You didn’t said from what computer (with what mail client, operating system & antivirus did you send mail to your mother?

It is fair to assume that the problem’s occuring with your machine.

If you ment that you use avast & thunderbird too then I tried and I can’t reproduce your problem. It doesn’t look like avast interferace, because avast by default settings does not erase mail. Sounds more like TBird’s problem.

Post more info, so will be in better position to help you.

Anyway, you can try post at the Tbird’s support forum:

UPDATE: Just installed Thunderbird 1.5 over 1.0.7 and now it works fine. So it turned out to be Thunderbird after all. Thanks for all who offered assistance.
