Not running as 64-bit...?

Hi,

I’m running 64-bit Vista. I read on the Avast website:

The new avast! uses native 64-bit drivers, delivering the same level
of protection as in the 32-bit Windows environments. The
installation package is the same for 32-bit and 64-bit versions

  • the setup program automatically detects the operating system
it is running on, and installs all necessary files.

But when I downloaded and installed Avast, it installed itself to my “Program Files” folder (for 32-bit apps) rather than “Program Files (x86)” (for 64-bit apps). And in Task Manager, I see Avast (several files) is running as 32-bit app.

Is that how it’s supposed to be? If not, should I reinstall it to “Program Files (x86)”? (Maybe the installer’s default location wasn’t set properly?) Thanks!

Yes, that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be.

hi ander!

just as info:
under vista 64bit the ‘Program Files’ folder is for 64bit-programs!
the 32bit programs are installed in the ‘Program Files (x86)’-folder!
