For scheduled scans you need to set up a custom scan. Some users have complained that they have powered down pc while it was scheduled scanning, they forgot when it was scheduled and there is no immediate indication that it is currently scanning, so be careful with it. Avast!'s Screensaver scan works well for this purpose, if you would care to try that also.
I will try that I have been trying to set up my profile on here and I am not able ot … also how do I set up the scan for e mail if there is one to set up

Can’t modify profile till 20 posts (anti-spam). Mail is scanned when opened. Unless you are referring to anti-spam? That feature isn’t used by me, so unsure about it.
[b][color=green]Well that makes sence with the profile and with the e mail like avg had something like this No virus found in this incoming message.
Checked by AVG - www.avg.com
Version: 9.0.819 / Virus Database: 271.1.1/2871 - Release Date: 05/13/10 02:26:00
I was just wondering if avast has that?

Yes, the mail shield should place a similar tag on scanned outgoing mail, from what I have read. No firsthand experience with this though, I use webmail.
It is available in the settings of the mail shield (See pic).
Insert note in the incoming, outgoing, infected messages respectively.
Default : It is not checked.
Check and see if it works.
I too don’t use email client. So check yourself.

I also use web email but try doing this :
Open the user interface > click on Real Time Shields > click on Mail Shield > click on the Expert Settings button > click on Behavoir > under the General heading, click to add checkmarks to the required “Insert note…” settings > I would also suggest you checkmark the “Mark in subject…” settings
I hope this helps you.
Edit - nmb posted while I was writing. The image supplied by nmb shows just what I was writing.
[b]I figured it out took me a bit … now just to see wat it does with the screensaver still have not foiund that one yet

Oh sorry,
Here is how one should setup custom scan:
Goto scan computer > Click create custom scan (right bottom corner) > Scheduling > Tick schedule this scan > select date and time. (See picture)
Enjoy!

Welcome to the forums.

that is why hopefully in the next version, avast will make the ball go around and around when it is doing a scan so users like my clients do not accidentally shut down the computer while it is doing a scan
