I’ve got a report that my Notepad.exe infected by “Win32:VB-CFY [Wrm]”, it has no problem while the VPS is 2006/12/08.
i check the file with VirusTotal.com , no virus found on other AV tools, pls confirm if this is false alarm.
thx for your kindly attention.

Hello
If only avast! detected it when you uploaded it to VirusTotal, please send the file in password protected archive to virus@avast.com and as a mail subject write “False Positive”
Meanwhile you can add the file to the exclision list of the standart shield , Standard Shield → Customize → Advanced → Exclusions
Also add it to the main program exclusion list (for the on-demand scanner) avast! Program Settings → Exclusion List → Add

Notepad.exe in the past has been a target for malware infection as it is a commonly known file and most don’t suspect it.
I have notepad.exe in three locations all the same size and date, etc. and none are detected by avast as infected.
What language/version of Notepad/Windows are you using?
Tried with Windows XP SP 2 CZ, EN and Windows Vista EN with no detection.

I’ve got a report that my Notepad.exe infected by “Win32:VB-CFY [Wrm]” too!
avast pro 4.7
vps:2006/12/11
language:Chinese
os:2000 professional(5.00.2195) sp4
This does not happen with other languages. I mean, only Notepad.exe in Chinese seems to have this trouble…
