notification bar icon and ignore option

hey guys,

lovely application you just released!
but could you please abide the android notification bar design guidelines? i got another app that doesn’t but you surely could do it.
see the attached screen shot from my galaxy nexus. see my attached screenshot. only sleepbot uses the increased space AND abides the layout.

another thing, please add some options on how to handle malicious software. it detected droidsheep and faceniff as malware and the only option i have is to resolve all. i want to keep them and add them to the ignore list, so please make that possible and make it that i can select only one application. i know that i can disable pup detection, but i’d rather keep it on/

the firewall looks sweet, gonna try that in the next days. haven’t tested lbe guard, because i don’t trust some random chinese dev, who offers their app for free. but i do trust avast.
but could you elaborate a bit why you can offer this good application for free?
i mean you offer free anti virus for osx/win/linux, do the enterprise/pro editions give you so much that you don’t see the need to at least charge $2 for such a promising android security solution, that actually protects the phone, unlike certain anti virus apps.

best,
x

Hi,

I think you got your reply in some other thread or am I mistaken?

Filip

you’re mistaken, that reply you’r referring to was for the osx client.
i did make a thread in the beta forum, that hasn’t gotten a reply though: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=90337.0

OK, then it’s on my “to reply” list

To be quick since I’m on vacation now:

a) We might do an ignore list sometimes in the future, this has not been decided yet.
b) Notifications might change in some of the future versions, we are trying to adjust them according to user feedback.
c) Can’t really say anything valid about the suite being free since I’m not the one deciding these things, but I think there is something in the blog post from Vlk done a few days ago regarding that matter.

Last question in the blog: https://blog.avast.com/2011/12/30/faq-ams/

thanks, i’m subscribed to the blog and have read it earlier today

I agree the notification bar icon is like a big headlight. Very distracting. Could you please make it smaller.

whoops, i actually meant the notification drawer layout. it doesn’t abide the android guidelines there and the icon is too small there, at least for ice cream sandwich.

although a monochrome icon as an option would be very welcome for me too.

BTW have you tried disabling detection of PUPs? I would think at least some of the apps that you mentioned would be categorized as PUPs.

Thanks
Vlk

yep, disabling PUP detection ignores droidsheep, faceniff and wifikill.

it paused the scanning while i turned the screen off and resumed after re-activating :frowning:

agree with this post (xoom ver 3.2)

all other notifications consist of 2 adjoining boxes

left has the icon centred, while right has the text left justified, but middle justified vertically

for avast! both are mergeed into one box, and looks clumsy

Sorry, Androids 3.x and 4.x are not officially supported yet, the layouts and stuff will be ironed at the time the official support comes.

The paused scanning is actually intended behavior to save the battery. We might add the option to continue the scanning even when the screen is off sometimes in the future.

But Filip, seems to work perfectly in AVD environment… ???
Seem you’re not recommending the install in real v4 Androids.
What are the problems with v4?

I have one 4.0.x device in my drawer at work and it just still doesn’t work the way I would like, needs more polishing.
