Now this McAfee thing is annoying me

O23 - Service: McAfee SecurityCenter Update Manager (mcupdmgr.exe) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee.com\Agent\mcupdmgr.exe (file missing)

After removing all components of McAfee, this thing is still here, I cannot delete it and the McAfee tech support wasn’t really helpful. Hijack This can’t remove it as well. So what should I do to get rid of it?

I also have this McAfee agent thing on my computer and I can’t get rid of it either! >:(

see here, guys: maybe this is useful for you. Remember to reboot to see the effects of this operation. (I’m a McAfee Firewall user) ;D

Remove it from your programs “start up” list, in case it is listed there.
If you have Spybot: Mode → Advanced mode → Tools → System startup.

You could try a utility like unlocker http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ and try and delete it manually

I install unlocker but they said theres no locking handle found. Spybot System Start up didn’t have anything that is simliar to McAfee. I check Windows Task Manager in the process tab and the only thing that seems similar to McAfee is the smss.exe (is that McAfee?) Also Kamulko! where is service panel? Your tip seems to be my last hope now.

see

please, don’t touch smss.exe!

Okay I won’t. Thanks, anyway after disabling it in the service panel, where is this Peripheral Panel?

try this way: start - open the control panel - see the icon in the first image (something like some worker’s tools). In Italian the name is different “Gestione Periferiche” = “Peripherals Management” or similar ???

see

okay I’m there, what should I do?

ok, now reboot and say me what happens… i decline every responsibility in case of pc explosions!!! ahahah ;D

wait before reboot, I didn’t do anything yet, I just only open the computer managment. What should I do after I open Computer Management cause I can’t find “show hidden Peripherals”?

(Note: This might end my misery of McAfee, I can feel it) ;D

ok

Okay, I’ll reboot soon after I finsih downloading something, thanks.

remember: take an extinguisher first and attention to the gamma-rays! ;D ;D ;D

Sadly this piece of junk is still in my hardrive, good news is that Hijackthis dosn’t detect it anymore.

well, my instructions were to deactivate the annoyances. For a complete cleaning it is necessary to dive in the registry but is dangerous 'cause surely there’s the risk of damages (shared dll’s and other). Have you launched now the CCleaner (if you have it)?

another advantage now is that you have not this junk services loaded: your memory is a bit more lighter now!
