I was wondering why when I start a boot time scan and avast finds a virus it will give me options denoted by a number, and when i type in a number I noticed that my number lock was not lit, so I am unable to select any number to have avast try to repair, delete files
Use the number keys above the letters on your keyboard, or press num-lock and than use the num-pad.
You can configure the state of the Number lock key by two ways:
- Tweaking Windows (in fact a security option while configurating the system with policies).
- On the BIOS.
You seem to use the first one. At boot time scanning, you should do the second
There’s also a here-and-now temporary workaround that used to work on standard keyboards (but doesn’t, unfortunately, on my fancy Logitech one).
If your num-lock is inactive and the number-pad keys are acting as cursor controls, try holding down Shift while pressing a number key, that should give you the number. When it does work, it’s also effective the other way around – if num-lock is active, press Shift to be able to use it as a cursor-control key.
OK, the numbers above the letter keys work, thanks, avast found a virus called netsky-af, I moved it to the virus chest, I read that it will be safe there, so should I leave it in there, send it to avast, or delete it? I tried to repair it but it wont work. I rescanned with boot time, found no other problems ???
No need to send it to Avast since Avast already recognizes it
You can safely delete it from the chest without causing any harm.
Thanks for the help, will delete it, presciate it
