Number of listed viruses

ok, i just down loaded the avast for the home use. Can someone please help me to understand what does it mean when I open the virus database, and klez is typed in there. I did not type that, does it mean I have that particular virus. I ran this in safe mode because when I booted regular it was destroying ad-aware se, trend micro and avast has not detected anyhting please advise on how I should configure this program. I changed my email address to my new email address because my old email address was getting a lot of junk email and possibly spam and yahoo will scan my emails now.

It is just a default showing what you might type to search for results in the virus database. Just over type the entry for what you are searching for. The virus database won’t help in removing or identifying a virus, it is just a reference database of viruses, etc. that avast detects not a list of infections on your system.

avast is generally fine out of the box so to speak, leave things on the default settings until you are more familiar with avast. Browse the forums, especially the sticky topics at the top of each of the forums. They provide a wealth of information to help you get the best from avast, not to mention the avast Help File!

What Operating System are you using? is it up to date ?
What is your email program ?

Isn’t klez the default text in the viruses filter?
If I remember correctly, in the help files the example of filter is klez…

Yes it is.

So, Johnson, don’t worry… everything is fine 8)
You don’t have that particular virus

Maybe I read something wrong, but, does kJohnson also mention having Trend Micro on that computer? ???
