I have on managed client that is complaining with that error. I have checked to make sure that RPC is running and so is the avast! service, but the avast! service complains that it is not wokring due to a dependency or is marked for deletion.
Hi there, i’ve got the same problem with my client (win xp pro sp2).
i shut down the windows firewall on that client, but the provider aren’t working. a reboot makes no difference. i’ve got no idea what to do.
i run ADNM on my machine and installed the client (push) an a notebook in my domain. the installation was great, but after the restart of the client, there were no provider running. there is only a red cross on the avast-tray that says no provider running. i’ve got other clients where everything is ok. So i’ve got no idea.
Check the status of the “avast antivirus” service on the machine (Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Services). Is it running? If not, is it possible to start it?
sorry, it is not possible to start the service. If i try to start the service (by icon in sys-tray) there is a popup who ask for the password. i type the right password, but nothing happens. Then i tried to start the service from control panel → admin tools → services (avast! iAVS4 Control Service) there was the following message “failure 1069 - the service couldn’t start because of a wrong login”, but i think i’ve got the right passwords.
i checked the service. The “local system account” is marked. I think it is right, isn’t it?
There is another aspect i figured out. On the system with win xp sp1 it works fine, but on machines with win xp sp2 there are the problems. I think it may be, because of the window firewall, so i deactivate the firewall, but nothing happened. May be there is an problem with sp2, i’ve got no idea.
