Why and how might this occur? It MAY always be with a standard user account in Windows Vista. I’m using Avast free version 5.1.889. Thank you.
Is it all of them, or just the Mail and/or Web Shield, and do they turn themselves back on shortly?
It’s all of them. As soon as I notice it, which is normally right away, I manually turn them on. I have never noted an occasion where this self corrected, but then, I don’t leave it that way long either.
As I said this happens occasionally, not always.
Ok, do you have any other security software installed?

The only other regularly in use installable security tool I use is Winpatrol. I have Windows Defender shut off. I’m using Vista’s built in firewall.
Alright, try a simple repair first. Do this by starting as though you are uninstalling Avast! normally through Windows, but choose the “Repair” option from the menu when it appears then follow the steps.
Next thing I would suggest is to re-install, but see if the repair works first.

Whether or not results are nul, positive, or negative will take a couple to three or four weeks to know.
I’ll try and remember to report back the results.
