Odd behavior on the Mac with Avast

I do not know if this is related to Avast or not, but the behavior started to show up about the time I started seeing the SafePrice functionality in Safari. My first through was that I had somehow picked up a virus on my MacBook Pro but Avast shows nothing. Still, sometimes when I am browsing (and only when I am browsing) the system appears to have a mind of its own. I cannot easily move the mouse (it either will not move or it moves very slowly when I use the MBP built-in mouse pad), windows open and close as they choose, the screen zooms or un-zooms and my system acts as though there was a ghost operating it. Rebooting does not really help as this functionality begins when I re-open Safari. It acts like this for, perhaps, 5 minutes and then it all stops.

My first thought was that I needed to run a scan but Avast finds nothing. My second thought was that I might need to rebuild my system but I would prefer to avoid that. Then it occurred to me that this started about the time I saw SafePrice and I began to wonder it was related. I have turned SafePrice off (for 24 hours) to see if this problem goes away, but it is intermittent in any case so I don’t know if this will really tell me anything.

I am running Mavericks (10.9.3) and Avast Free (9.0, build 41877). Has anyone else see this kind of behavior?

Thanks.

SafePrice is part of the new AOS browser plugins (former WebRep). You can disable/delete the
plugin in the browser (Safari in your case) plugins settings.

Thank you, but I did know that. I was posting to ask if anyone else had seen this behavior. It might be Avast, it might be SafePrice or it might be something else entirely. It might well be hardware and not software. I just wanted to know if I was alone in seeing this behavior.

UPDATE:

I have not seen anyone indicate that they have also seen this problem but I did want to mention that I disabled the SafePrice plugin from Safari and the problem I had disappeared. I cannot be sure they were related but I can say that after I turned off the extensions in Safari the odd behavior disappeared and has not appeared again. At least, so far.
