Odd scan results on txt file

I’m using avast! v4.8 Pro with the latest updates/definition files. In doing a scan, a cab file was detected as having a text file infected with PC-Flu II. I extracted the files to investigate but was not given an alert and everything looks fine viewing it with a hex editor. Two odd things: 1) I only get the warning when I scan the directory containing this file, not when scanning the file itself and 2) I move it to the chest, I scan it inside and it shows clean, but it’s infected again when I restore it and rescan. Lastly, I thought maybe it was something else setting off the alert in the cab file, but it is this text file.

Any ideas what could be causing it to set off??

Wow… weird… Maybe the best will be sent the file (txt and the cab) to virus (at) avast (dot) com for analysis… It’s not a common behavior for sure.

Thanks…I’ve sent both files in with the pertinent information.

The problem should be fixed in the next VPS update.
Thanks for the files.

Thanks Igor… we’re curious… isn’t it a weird behavior? Why did it happen?
