guys i use windows vista sp1 x32…since sp1 installed my microphone(its built-in with my notebook) stopped working…i downloaded the latest drivers for realtek high definition audio and the microphone still doesnt work…any suggestions?
Try rolling back your driver and see if that cures it.
did it…the problem remains… cant understand whats going on…i sent a techincal report to acer…if they cant solve my problem…i wl try to rol back to an older date…
Hardware problems are probably the things to diagnose via long distance.
Sorry.
Into Control Panel > System > Hardware devices
Which ones are set with a question mark (?) besides the microphone?
no one…everything seems to work well…and the sound device seems to work well…it doesnt detect the microphone though…i had the same problem b4 the format and i solved it by downloading the latest drivers of my soundcard…i did it now but didnt worked…
Sorry, I’m not good with hardware issues…
dont know if its hardware…i hope its not… :
Is this a built in mike or external ???
its built in…
You could try uninstalling the driver and than have windows re-discover it.
i tried that bob and then it detects the microphone but the microphone still doesnt work… ???
It’s starting so sound more and more like a hardware problem
External mics are relatively cheap. Try using one of those to see if the internal mic has failed.
One of my old monitors had a built-in mic that failed and the external mic fixed the problem.
Hopefully, that will work for you also.
i will buy one and test it…i want a headset with mic anyway
yep…sounds hardware problem to mee too
yesterday i remembered that when i installed sp1,i installed the v1.90 of my sound card driver and the mic was working fine…so i download it and installed it…then the soundcard recognised the mic…BUT…when i login msn and go to video and sound settings it doesnt seem the mic to work…i make a call to a friend and he can hear me very quiet iven if the mic volume is at the maximum…is there any freeware program to boost my mic’s volume?
On some systems if you look under the sound panel for windows you will see an Advanced Button under the mic channel. It will usually have a check box to boost the mics signal.
i searched for that but i think my system doesnt have that thing…
