I thought I would like to try the Chrome browser but when I tried to download it I couldn’t. I tried several times, then I just gave up.
i seriously would not bother trying again. Its a pile of crap and there are better choices out there.
I’m not going to.
Opera http://www.opera.com
VPN included http://www.opera.com/computer/features/free-vpn
Dear -midnight,
Brave a fine browser.
Fast: https://brave.com/
Like it on desktop love it on Android mobile.
your avast forum friend,
polonus
@polonus,
I have Brave.
@Pondus,
I have Opera.
firefox
u might also like to try firefox quantum this nov.14 ,adv as a faster solution to the standard firefox
I have 'Firefox.
If you have all of these browsers, Brave, Opera, Firefox - not to mention the installed browser of your OS - why do you go looking for another one ?
I just wanted to try chrome.
I downloaded google chrome but it doesn’t work. Can’t get to the home page. What a pain.
I finally got it unistalled.
Nothing wrong with Chrome. I’ve used it for years.
I also use Opera and Firefox and several others but, Chrome is my default.
Hi bob3160,
I am also on Google Chrome and find it tweakable to all of my needs.
For the faster work and action I use Iridium (also a Google chrome browser klone).
Even have some self made user scripts running under Tampermonkey in Google Chrome.
Like the browser with the protection of uBlock Origin (against ads and mining) and uMatrix as a multi blocker.
Oh, and also fingerprinting handled with an extension.
And the avast extension sitting there says: this browser has a good web rep.
Also remember the browser with the largest attack surface (as Google Chrome has a rather vast global userbase)
also has best security implemented.
Google Safebrowsing, Virustotal, https everywhere, certificate transparency all Google initiated security projects.
We may be thankful for that.
They make a jolly good profit, that is true, but it is a good product after all. ;D
polonus
i use three browsers
Firefox - main
heavily modified in the config
can block webrtc leaks unlike chrome which needs an addon or something
addons:
adblock plus, i grew up with it. Ublock origin is superior though and more aggressive but nah
decentraleyes
I just let avast web shield do the script blocking.
Firefox does not support some of the html stuff and other file formats that other browsers like chrome supports.
Firefox sometimes break sites
So I resort to Microsoft Edge if that happens
Microsoft Edge
limited configurations
[preinstalled in win10]
scored poorly in privacy tests, not a privacy browser and u can be easily tracked and fingerprinted
addons:
adblock plus
Third is Tor Browser
leave the config as it is.
there are some sites u can only access through this browser
like chat forums with too much freedom of speech.
