Both my husband and a daughter gave me new Windows 11 laptop’s for Christmas. I have McAfee on both. I want to uninstall it and install Avast but I don’t know how to do that. Could you please tell me how to uninstall it? I haven’t used a laptop for at least 5 years so I don’t know much about using one.
I would appreciate it very much if you would help me with this issue.

I would suggest that you first download the Avast off-line installation file and save it somewhere you can find it again. So you don’t have to go online without protection. Essentially downloading and saving all files whilst you are protected by your existing program.
You don’t say what avast Program you are considering or I would try to give you a link, but I’m sure you should be able to find it in the forums 
Having saved the Avast off-line installation file, you can now uninstall McAfee using the normal Windows Programs > Uninstall function, restart and then install Avast and again restart.

I’ve only used the Laptop our Daughter bought me twice and the ones my Husband bought for me and himself are still in the boxes where they’ll probably stay. I would much rather use a Desktop.
