the time has arrived - after several severe warnings about all the flames here I am forced to close the Off Topic forum. I am very sorry to do this but I do not see any other alternative. I think this was quite unique place on the Internet where friends can meet and discuss different stuff. Unfortunately, sometimes I feel like it is a kindergarten.
I hope all of you will understand our step. I would like to thank to all of you who help us not only to support avast! but to keep this site to be such a wonderful place.

What are the chances of reviving the Off-Topic Forum?
It is unfortunate that a few ruined the Off Topic Forum for the rest of us. But, I suppose it would be very dificult to exclude the few from that forum.
My guess is that if we had a disinterested third party volunteer to be the moderator (a non-poster to the off-topic section) to keep Alwil from constantly receiving removal requests, that we would stand a better chance of getting the off-topic section back.
If we came to a consensus amongst all the regulars on how to handle our own problems without involving the Alwil staff, we probably could assuage Alwil’s concerns.
Good idea Gene however the Alwil people seem to be disinterested in what we would like regarding
Off-Topic I think they want us to right off the Off-topic.
Making off-topic a more independent entity of the Avast! website might work. The problem with the Off-Topic forum is that it brings a casual feeling to Avast!, when they are striving for professionalism.
