I apologize in advance if I have posted this in an inappropriate area.
We are a successful computer repair business in Owensboro, Kentucky. We have promoted the use of Avast with our Clients for over a year now and for the most part are pleased with the outcome.
I am interested in offering the free version of Avast to our Clients on a disk. Assuming that I was not able to convert them to the full version of Avast, would it be frowned upon if I were to hand them a complimentary CD with the free version of Avast on it?
Just curious. Not interested in breaking any rules.
There are many locations that they could download it from, so receiving it on CD would prevent having to go on-line without protection to get it.
I don’t believe giving them the avast free installation file on CD would be breaking any rules.
What would be likely to break the user license agreement (rules) would be if you installed it for them and registered it, as part of the registration process is effectively declaring they will be using it for Home and non-commercial use.
The obvious point you would have to keep that copy reasonably up to date as the virus definitions contained within the installation file are frozen at the time you downloaded it. So although not a problem for the auto update to deal with the latest virus definition version, it is best to be reasonably up to date at the start point.
Note: I don’t work for avast so can’t speak for them.
Thank you kindly for your insight, as it is much appreciated.

No sure what you meant by that. Are you suggesting that Avast has the free version already burnt to a CD that is available for distrubution at a price? Or were you talking about the paid for version on a CD?
