this appeared suddenly with Avast 8.
How the hell do I get rid of it? it’s crap, tagging a lot of false positives (almost any “conservative” email, and none of the obama-favorable stuff, by the way…). I want it gone, back to how it used to be.
I don’t want this feature at all. All my spam filtering is done at my mail server - a server I run, with Spam Assassin.
How do i get rid of this toolbar, which appeared in my Office 2003 / outlook when Avast 8 upgrade occurred?
HEY AVAST SUPPORT!! What the hell?
tried forum search… google search
Thanks, but those are user created discovered work-arounds, not AVAST answering the question and telling us the right way to handle this…
go to Outlook addons and disable if you don’t like the outlook plugin
it is not there in Outlook2003.
It should be a button/option in the AVAST UI.
I should not have to fumble around on my computer searching registry keys to find a way to disable this.
FYI I am not a ‘newb’ - been using windows since it loaded on DOS 3.x…
it just pisses me off when software modifies OTHER software without my permission. Avast DID ask if I wanted to use CHROME (NO!), but messed with my outlook without asking me, and does not present a way to turn it off.
not sure if this works…cant see on ipad
check ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall > change … if you see spam as a separate module there, then you can remove it
Nope. only shows “anti spam” as a ? in the configuration interface.
Yes, and the link takes you to a web site.
specifically to avast’s website where they want you to install/pay for more software.
I put in a support ticket today. If they don’t reply, I’ll be requesting a refund for the remaining 2 years of my five license bundle.
Still no response from support presumably.
John
oh, I got a reply. 2 pages of instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall the entire AV package, with no promise that it would fix the problem.
I’m PISSED.
