Dear Forum,
Following the release of the new Micro$oft Office 2010 today, has Micro$oft released an official conversion program for earlier versions of Office?
Thanks!

Hi Bob,
Thank you for the post. Unfortunately my original post was unclear.
Has Micro$oft released an official conversion program for users without Office 2010 so they can read documents created with the latest version?
Thanks!

Don’t see anything as of yet for 2010, just 2007 stuff still.

Since the extensions are still the same as in Office 2007, there shouldn’t be any problems.
If your office package is older than 2007, you might check out the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File Formats
There are also on-line conversions available for docx to doc http://doc.investintech.com/
Oh, I thought they changed formats again.
Thanks Bob.
Why did Microsoft change formats in Office 2007 from doc to docx?
Got any idea?
They are Microcrap. Need I say more?
You obviously have a dislike for Microsoft so why not use Open Office ???
A good point. Perhaps I am too lazy to uninstall it?
Yeah, there are several reasons. One was because they employ the “new” style-sheet method for documents, much like a webdesign tool does with CSS. They also wanted a format that would save more information in smaller sizes.
Or, you can read here to see all of the new features in Word 2007 that made them change the format to support such changes: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/what-s-new-in-microsoft-office-word-2007-HA010074224.aspx
