I found this as a process in my task manager but it vanished quickly, I have had no requests for permission to the internet through my Comodo Firewall and some websites say it is legit (microsoft office) and others that its spyware, the thing is the ones that say its spyware say it can hide in office folders so I dont know what to do?
You should check it at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here, as with any detection.
I have found only two instances of the file one in common files which checks out as office data provider for WBEM and its own prefetch file, I still cant understand why it was running for under 10 seconds in task manager when office wasnt loaded
All of which would suggest even more to me it needs to be checked out at VT.
You don’t say were the two instances are located or which matches the file name and location in the detection.
virustotal says clear across the board
ps when it scans the file does it scan a copy of it or the original on the hard drive?
Now report it as a false positive (sending a zipped password protected sample), giving the detail of the detection and a link to this topic.
When the detection is made it should tell ‘what’ is being scanned and in what location at the time of detection.
Slight mis-understanding, Avast hasnt detected it as malicious at all it was something I observed that didnt look like a common activity but it checks out on virus total so I shall observe and see if it happens again
